"Eclectic minimalism, sanctuary, and privacy were of equal importance in the brief for this multigenerational home in Perth.
Crisp and contemporary in style, it has been designed to drape down the riverside block, which declines 12 metres, creating the impression that it is boldly reaching out to the beautiful - and completely unobstructed - view.
Inside, white-on-white surfaces intermingled with textural elements in furniture and finishes, and decadent brass surprises in small custom moments throughout the home, have created a luxury feel in what is a relaxed, restrained interior.
This spectacular residence is home to Florence and her husband, and a frequent stopover for adult children and grandchildren.
Florence worked closely with the boutique design-build studio, Bacic Group, to bring her 50 year vision to life.
Florence was in Greece during the one-year planning and design phase, and Bacic took inspiration from the holiday snaps they were sent back, in particular the spacious terraces, the curves, and the contrast of crisp white architecture against the deep blue water.
The couple had searched for many years before finally securing the perfect site. A former riverbank, it would be a challenging site to build on, but the opportunity for a river outlook from every angle was always going to be worth it.
'I wanted a spacious, contemporary, multi-level home that could comfortably house one, two, or three generations of our family whenever the need arose,' says Florence.
'It was also important to have a pleasing view through every pane of glass. Whether the view be natural or invented, I feel it's an important part of creating a healthy environment. Not only does it create a comforting and enriching space, but it also has a positive effect on our total wellbeing.
Now settles in and surrounded by her mix of old, new and revived, Florence says she feels 'totally at home'."
